Iceberg Ahoy

Iceberg AhoyIceberg Ahoy! There is no denying that the economy, just like Humpty Dumpty, seems to be headed for a great fall, and all the king’s men are nowhere to be seen this time.  It’s not a matter of if, but when.  We’re printing money as a nation faster than Charmin makes TP, and when this is over, our dollar is going to be worth about as much.  We as citizens have no control over the economy or the out of control government that has created this mess.  The words “For the people and By the people” are long gone.  In Washington it’s “spend, spend, spend” as usual.  It really doesn’t matter which party is in office.  One will give tax breaks to their rich “Old Money” buddies, and spend billions on pet projects like a bullet train to nowhere, or studying the sex life of the green eared newt, and the other party gives tax breaks to their big corporate backers, and will dump money into a military industrial complex, so we can leave our enemies our used equipment and arms when we vacate their land.  It goes on and on and on every four years, with the only difference being what party color tie they are wearing, and who we are going to target as an enemy this month.  As the “Joe average” citizen, you can do nothing about this, as you are just a pawn on a giant board of chess.  And for those of you who believe the government will save you with some fantastic free socialist bail-out program, don’t hold your breath.  It’s only getting worse, and that program will add to the problem (debt).  Unlike the 80s Dire Straits song, the money is not for nothing, and never mind the free chicks. There is a high price to pay for all these stimulus checks and bailouts, and when you add the infrastructure bill on top of it, and very little national production because of the virus, well, you better have a really good life jacket on, because we are about to drown in debt for the next few generations.

Treasure Island Metal DetectorsSo, what can you do?  Well, first of all, you had better be stocking up on food and water.  The supply chain problems may make that a serious priority very soon, and with the devalued dollar, it is going to get pretty pricey to feed your family and yourself, let alone try to stock up for the future.  We suggest you keep at least 6 months minimum of food and water, and make sure to only buy things you and your family will want to eat.  Never mind that super great sale price of canned goat, or having 20 jars of pickled pigs feet on your shelf, because it won’t do you any good if you and the family can’t stand to eat them.  Stock up on food you can enjoy and make a meal out of and then we suggest you start a garden.  People did this during WWII to supplement their ration cards.  They called them “Victory Gardens” and they were quite effective in supplementing a family’s food supply.  We also suggest stocking up on medicines and first aid supplies, and yes, find some way to protect yourself as well.  We won’t go into that subject right now.

Iceberg Ahoy! So now let’s look at the financial part of the problem…… You are going to need something of real value after the collapse. Your paper money and modern coins won’t be worth much (remember the Charmin?).  Historically, the best currency in the world has always been gold and silver.  Our current money has nothing to back it up with, but gold and silver has substantial value worldwide.  You can’t just print gold and silver, as it is a tangible metal and a commodity with a limited, finite supply.

Iceberg AhoyHow do you acquire the gold and silver?  You either purchase it from a precious metals dealer and pay his premium (mark up or commission), or you can go out and detect it, with a metal detector, and dig it out of the ground.  There are plenty of pre 1965 coins buried out there that are made with 90% silver, not to mention gold and silver jewelry that can be sold or refined at a smelter.  All you need is a decent metal detector and some practice.  Same holds true for gold nuggets if you are in a gold bearing area.  Hunting gold nuggets is much harder than hunting coins, but the rewards can be much greater too.  It can all be found with a good metal detector.  All you need is some spare time, the right machine, and a little luck never hurts too.  This could end up being your personal safety blanket in a world that has gone completely bonkers.  Gold, silver, jewelry, and coins can all be found at beaches, parks, and old home sites, and if you live in a gold bearing area, you may find flakes and nuggets as well.  You won’t know until you try.

We can help you choose the right detector for the job, and we will get it to you at a really fair price.  Visit our store today or give us a call.  Contact us if you have any questions.  You will be glad you did. Iceberg Ahoy!  Read More Blogs!
